Million Dead

Reading Festival 2005 review

By eFestivals Newsroom | Published:

There are easier ways to play Reading than the way Million Dead favour. Usually, calling the man who books every band on the bill a wanker in an argument over The Smiths doesn’t help anyone get a decent slot. So it’s just as well the hardcore four-piece are on good terms with the Lock-Up Stage compere Mike Davies, as their brand of intelligent yet brutal post-hardcore goes down a treat.

From the huge choral singalong of ‘Father My Father’ to the mad frenzy of ‘Pornography For Cowards’, the whole show is a rout, and for those lucky enough to catch the vocals, a few important lessons may be learned. Lesson Number One: “I must not anger the booking agent... I must not anger the booking agent...”
