Reading Festival 2005 review

By eFestivals Newsroom | Published:

With the chants of “DFA” already peeking out from the crowd, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the initials stood for “Don’t Fuck About”. The formula is brilliant in its simplicity – set up a bass and a drumkit (do it yourself, obviously, none of that wussy roadie nonsense) and make the kinds of noises that would make a pneumatic drill feel inadequate.

There really is no explanation for how they manage it, but from the very first terrifying chords of opener ‘Turn It Out’, it’s a wonder that Caversham isn’t lying in rubble thanks to the torture that can you can put rhythm instruments through. The moshpit suffers its first few casualties of the day – Blame Canada.
