Reading Festival 2005 review

The Oklahoma outfit play upbeat pop punk and look far too pretty to be a real band as opposed to an American PR guys idea. ‘Dirty Little Secret’ the massage parlour shenanigans of ‘Happy Endings’ and the political statement (tho’ well hidden if you ask me – clearly having a pop at their own president is part of the marketing man’s ideas) of ‘Top of the World’ are all fairly well crafted.

‘Play With Me’ has lyrics that seem to be well known by large swathes of the audience, who also happen to be mostly wearing skirts. Personally I can’t see the appeal of either the lyrics, the music or the pretty boys but the girls all loved them.
