Green Day

REVIEW

JULY 11TH 2002.

The Lancashire County Cricket ground was filled to the brim with a wide age range of bouncing hyperactive green haired punks.

Before Green day arrived on stage the song 'Y.M.C.A' was blasted out over the arenas PA system. It was a bizarre sight watching thousands of green haired punks doing the movements to 'Y.M.C.A'.

Green Day
As soon as the trio from Berkley California arrived on stage, the audience erupted into screams and whistles at the sight of their icons.

Their set consisted of both old and recent tracks. In no time at all Green Day had ploughed their way through 'Maria', 'Long View', 'Welcome To Paradise', 'Hitchin A ride', '2000 Light Years', 'Knowledge', 'Basket Case' and 'she' to name just a few.

During their performance of 'Knowledge', Billy Joe grabbed three people from the audience to play drums, bass, and guitar. The three individuals did extremely well on the instruments. When the song had finished Billie Joe gave his guitar to the person that had been playing it.

The rest of the set just whizzed by. The last part of the set included 'King For a Day', 'Waiting', 'Minority', and 'When I Come Around'.

They even slipped in a punk version of Lulu’s 'Shout', which the audience lapped up. For the encore Green day played 'Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)', 'Scattered', and 'Macy`s Day Parade'.

This was an exciting, energetic, fast-paced set. It was thoroughly enjoyable with the exception of one fan injuring my leg.
