The Datsuns

Leeds Festival 2003 review

By Tim Fellows aka 'salt' | Published:

The lone New Zealand flag waving in the crowd [you bastard - you spoiled my view!] seemed to perk the globe trotting four piece to an end of tour frenetic whig out – or maybe front man Dolf was trying to pre-empt a Justin Hawkins falsetto attack, but the traditional 3 minute sweat, rock and denim effect path the Datsuns follow is still refreshing and energetic as exemplified by Harmonic Generator and MF from Hell [are they referring to Mean Fiddler?] while new tune 'In Love' allows the traditional mini fretwank of a thousand longhairs in the audience as well as the one on stage.

For anyone who likes a little less Spandex, then The Datsuns were where you should have been. There's nothing original here but 'dyamn' it still sounds gooood, and the upgrade from the Carling Tent in 2002 doesn't seem to have dimmed their reach nor affected their ability to rock out.
