Hyde Park Calling review

By Scott Williams | Published:

Mobile have the smallest crowd of the weekend, this could be because Ocean Coloured Scene are playing perfectly apt breezy summer anthems to the gathered throngs who have set out their towels and liberally applied the sun tan lotion. Either that or they know just how bland this lot are!

Another Canadian band, but they look much more mainstream than fellow countrymen, ‘The Waking Eyes’ present for us a selection of tunes from debut album ‘Tomorrow Starts Today’ and it’s so like every other band we get served up. If you like your mainstream bands that all sound like ‘Simple Plan’ or ‘The Killers’ and anywhere in between you’ll love this lot.

The title track is slightly more original than the brace of tracks we hear before it but they aren’t really memorable, unless you’re into this kind of stuff in which they’re probably hugely different to say ‘Angel and Airwaves.’
