Homelands 2003 - REVIEW

By Neil Greenway | Published:

Drum 'n' Bass, or a pop band with great songs? Somewhere in between I guess. Whatever, Sian Evans has an energy and presence that has catapulted Kosheen straight to the top on the back of the hit album and some great live performances.

Kosheen

The start of the set promised great things. Looking more glam than I've seen before, Sian took to the front of the stage and demanded you pay attention. The first few songs swept me away.

But there's a new album on the horizon ("Kokopelli", out in August), and I'm a little worried. Hearing some of the new songs for the first time live, they seemed to have little to recommend them, certainly not of the strength of "Catch" or "Hide U". I hope this was more to do with them being less comfortable with the new songs than the actual quality.

Kosheen

Despite Kosheen's best efforts, the energy faded, and even with more of the hits played at the end it didn't quite come back. It wasn't a bad performance, but overall the feeling was disappointment - I KNOW they can do better.
