Kharma 45

Hi:Fi (South) 2006 reviews

By Scott Williams | Published:

Saturday, Hi:Fi South Live Arena

Kharma 45 kick their set off with a song that could be called ‘Blue Shack’ but the distorted guitars and driving drums, and an altering of the lead mic levels make it hard for me to tell. But it’s an adequate opener. ‘Political Soul’ has a driving rhythm and gets a few people up and moving as well as more people marching into the tent to its beat. ‘Exctacy’ follows and the Irish band bug out – those in the crowd under the helium balloon of Thomas the Tank Engine start dancing like it’s an anthem – this is a sure fire winner of a tune.

The crowd all begin to move to the next tune and I rather like the atmospheric sound, a drum led noise with a floaty, edgy guitar and vocals, another band whose records are destined to be in Christmas stockings by the end of the year.
