Stiff Little Fingers

Guilford Live 2000 review

By Neil Greenway | Published:

Stiff Little Fingers
29th July 2000

Sort of a local gig for Stiff Little Fingers - ex-Jam bassist Bruce Foxton now plays with them - it was sad to see the proof that you can't trade off a once well-known name forever.

Stiff Little Fingers

Sure, there were die-hard fans, sporting their SLF t-shirts with pride (how they've managed to keep them intact for 20 years I don't know), and the music was competently played, but whereas Bad Manners (who'd preceeded them) had some fun songs that the crowd enjoyed, SLF were too unfamiliar for most, and failed to raise any interest.

Stiff Little Fingers

The set consisted of their full back catalogue, plus a strange cover of a Specials number, but it was too roarcus for a sunny afternoon in the Home Counties, and got little more than polite clapping from those sprawled on the grass... Guys, retirement beckons!
