eFestivals caught up with Michael Monroe from (rock gods - ed) Hanoi Rocks to get the low-down on what he thought of his appearance at this year's Download.

Did you enjoy performing at Download Festival 2010?
Yes, I enjoyed it very much!

Did you have chance to catch any other bands that weekend?
Unfortunately not. I was busy doing interviews from the moment I got there until our showtime.

You have been around for many years, what motivates you to keep on going? Surely, you have made enough money to be able to just sit back and enjoy it.
I love performing and doing what I do, especially now with this new band. That's enough of a motivation.

We caught your performance at Download, and you were jumping and bouncing all over the stage with such energy that it made us exhausted just watching you, so how long does it take for you to recover after a gig?
It doesn't take that long for me to recover after a show. A good night's sleep will do it.

Seeing as you have had a fair amount of success, is there anything that you would like to achieve that you haven't already achieved?
Being able to make a living by doing what I love the most is already a nice achievement. However, I wouldn't mind "expanding my fame" a bit more...

As someone who has stood the test of time in the music industry, what would your advice be to any bands that are hoping for a long term future in music?
Stay true to yourself and don't make compromises for the wrong reasons or "sell out" to make a quick buck. Stick to your own thing, no matter what the current trend might be.

What are you up to currently with regards to music? Any plans for an album release or UK tour?
We're working on songs for the new Michael Monroe album, which will probably be out in the early part of next year, at the latest. We're doing a UK tour opening up for Motorhead in November, 2010.

Is there any musician or band that you would like to record a song with?
With this band I have right now! And many songs!

Back in the 1980's, we had a lot of exciting, adventurous, rebellious bands come onto the scene such as Hanoi Rocks, Guns N Roses, Motley Crue to name a small few. Do you think the music scene will ever have exciting bands like that in the future?
It's hard to say...I guess, why not?

Would you consider playing any other music festivals next year if you were invited?
Yes, of course I would.

Thank You very much!
All the best.
