Alice in Chains

Back from their glory days, the early 90's grunge scene, Alice In Chains have returned. Bringing with them their own unique brand of music from this genre, heavily laced with a good measure of metal, they seem ready as ever to continue where they last left off. Now fronted by William DuVall, he band have reformed hopefully with the best intentions of recapturing former glory.

Instantly impressive they were well received by the Donington crowd, who are only too happy to hear them plough straight into the classics. They play a strong set where the new singers vocals fit in well the band. Particularly the bass sounds stand out well, as they are able to use this to their advantage in delivering some hard and gutsy songs. The dirtily sexy guitars thrown in at right intervals can never do any harm and their metal element becomes apparent during the guitar solos where they break away from their hard bass driven sound. They manage to make this switch quite effectively.

The timing of this reunion couldn’t have come at a better time for them. Where there is a significantly sized wave of bands with similar musical ideals merging from the cracks and especially from the US, things would seem promising for them. Bands like Alice In Chains would have influenced a lot of these bands and is another ingredient towards what could be a successful comeback.
