Bruno Mars - a tremendous performance

British Summer Time Hyde Park 2018 review

It is unbelievably hot day in London’s Hyde Park. The area is ridden with trendy festival goers, varying in age all in search of a good time. The stage is set for a cross section of artists, ready to dazzle in the extreme summer sunshine.

Special mention goes to DNCE. This is band that I have never seen before and I was looking forward to being introduced to the lead singer being Joe Jonas formally of Jonas Brothers fame. The band put in an energized, very colourful performance. By the time we get to their biggest hit ‘Cake by the ocean’ the crowd are whipped into a frenzy.

The night’s penultimate act was Khalid.  He performed a selection of album and single tracks. Great support was from his terrific dancers who displayed a variety of dance moves adding to the performance.

Make no mistake, the festival goers have come to see the one and only Bruno Mars. Before he comes on the stage, the punters are hyped up by bright visuals on the large screens. Bursting on stage to ‘Dripping in finesse’ leading into ’24 caret’ the spectators are excited beyond belief. Supported by his backing group ‘The Hooligans’ we are also treated to choreographed dance displays throughout. You forget how many massive hits Bruno has had, one of the highlights being a rocky version of ‘I think I want to marry you’. There are some tender moments too from a tear inducing ‘When I was your man’ to a beautiful extended version of ‘just the way you are’. We are treated to timed fireworks throughout which all add to the atmosphere of a tremendous performance.  The set is finished with an electrifying ‘Uptown Funk’ and all the crowd are clearly having the time of their lives. You can rest assured that Bruno will be welcomed back whenever he wants to visit British soil again.
