Music Week (here) are reporting they've heard from numerous sources that V Festival in Staffordshire won't go ahead in 2018, and that while an event is still expected to take place at Hylands Park, Chelmsford it might not be under the V Festival name. They understand that the event's promoter Festival Republic are expected to make an announcement next month.

After many years of a near-instant sell-out when the first bands were announced, the event has often struggled to sell well in recent years. A refocus towards a more pop-oriented bill has improved things sometimes but not always, and this year - with headliners Jay-Z and Pink - there were discounted ticket deals available, a sure sign of slow sales.

V festival was started in the 1990s by Richard Branson alongside promoters MCD, SJM & Metropolis, and a controlling stake was acquired by Festival Republic's parent company Live Nation in 2013.
