Nigel Kennedy will be making an appearance at this summer's Latitude Festival which takes place at Henham Park Estate, Suffolk.
Especially for Latitude, Kennedy will be presenting 'A Night Of Duke Ellington'. Playing with his brand new ensemble of exceptional young musicians, The Orchestra of Life, and his jazz outfit, The Nigel Kennedy Quintet, made up of the violinist and four of the most dynamic musicians on the Polish jazz scene including special guests Orphy Robinson on marimba and Doug Boyle on guitar they will celebrate this American composer, pianist and prominent figure in the history of Jazz, who's music stretched over 50 years creating an inexhaustible songbook, scoring for movies, and world tours.
The four music arenas will play host to more than 100 acts include Obelisk, The Word Arena, Sunrise Arena and The Lake Stage have line-up that includes Florence and The Machine, Belle and Sebastian, and Vampire Weekend headlining, as well as performances by Empire Of The Sun, The National, The xx, Grizzly Bear, The Maccabees, Rodrigo y Gabriela, James, Richard Hawley, The Horrors, Jonsi, Laura Marling, Hockey, Mumford & Sons, Corinne Bailey Rae, with many more acts still to be announced. As well as the music there's an arts programme that spills over into thirteen arenas and areas.
Tickets for Latitude have sold out. Latitude is confirmed as taking place from Friday 16th to Sunday 18th July 2010, with the festival opening it's gates on Thursday 15th July for some limited non-musical entertainment.
