The Police confirmed for Isle of Wight Festival

The Isle of Wight Festival, which takes place at Seaclose Park, Newport, Isle of Wight, from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th June 2008 has announced the first act.

Confirmed as headlining on the Sunday night are The Police who will be playing their only UK festival show in 2008. "It's a coup to get The Police for the festival," said festival promoter John Giddings. "We're very happy to have the biggest tour of the last two years stopping by the Isle of Wight."

Tickets are not yet on sale, but festival go-ers can ensure their ticket via the Festival's ticket club Festival First, where the membership fee of £75 guarantees the opportunity to buy up to two Weekend with camping or Weekend non-camping tickets during an exclusive reserved sales period for the next 3 years. Tickets will be available to buy for Festival First members during an exclusive buying period from 10am on Monday 3rd December until 10am on Saturday 8th December 2007.

Tickets will go on general sale on Monday 10th December, priced at £130 for the weekend with camping, or £110 for the weekend with no camping. For children aged 12 years old and under the weekend costs £65 with camping or £55 with no camping. Campervans cost £250.

Alongside the guaranteed opportunity to purchase tickets, the festival is promising Festival First members an exclusive designated turnstile entrance to the festival site, plus other exclusive offers yet to be announced. Festival First membership will allow you to make all your travel arrangements the minute that the event dates are confirmed safe in the knowledge that you will be able to secure your tickets.

Other acts rumoured to be appearing at this year's Isle of Wight Festival include Basement Jaxx, Kaiser Chiefs, and Radiohead.
