Film and Music Tent for Latitude

Latitude which takes place at Henham Park Estate in Suffolk from Friday 14th to Sunday 16th July 2006 has announced the entertainment for the Film and Music Tent.

Throughout the weekend the tent will be hosting a number of specifically chosen shorts, art, and silent films and visuals, accompanied by live music, videos, dancers and DJ's.

On Thursday the tent will have an 80's theme. Hotel Motel will be performing and Zan Lyons will be providing a new alternative soundtrack to Ridley Scott's 1982 science-fiction hit, Blade Runner. The film will be shown in its entirety while Lyons performs. Also on Thursday is The Dirty Fan mail Show, a collection of humerous letters written to porn stars. The show has been developed by Johnny Trunk from the highly acclaimed book.

The Friday is dubbed Rockumentary Britanica, a whole day of short music documentaries and live performances all connected to the current UK music scene.

The films being screened include...
F*ck The Police (Anne McCloy) which looks at The Libertines and Pete Doherty's infamous Teesdale Road house parties.
As Angry As Me (Tom Sheehan) is an in depth look at anarchist art punks Selfish C**t.
Clubfooted (Owen Oppenheimer) features Kasabian filming a video in Eastern Europe.
The Man From Unkle (Lucius Yeo / Belen Bueso Alberdi) looks at Hip Hop collective Unkle and its founder James Lavelle.
On The Road With The Mystery Jets (Sarah Sea / Fay Milton / Kai Fish) is a mini-feature documenting The Mystery Jets' Eel Pie Revue Tour.
Rocklands parts one & two (Ben Blaine / Chris Blaine) is a look at the New Cross indie explosion, focusing on Bloc Party.
Thrown In & Spat Out (Lucia Helenka / Troy Miller) is an epic overview and recent history of Hackney's grime scene.
Heavy Metal Jr (Chris Waitt) features kids forming a metal band, with their dad as manager.
SXSW(Sarah Sea / Fay Milton) is a look at this year's SXSW music festival.
Rock n Roll Suicide (Nathan Evans) showcases Nathan Evan's David Bowie puppet video.
Christmas In Huddersfield (Peter Spence) is a rare, true story of the Sex pistols performing live at a children's party at Christmas 1977, the last time the band with Sid Vicious performed on British soil.

Performances from The Mystery Jets, Methodist Centre, All in One and Bolt Action Five will also be held within the tent to accompany the relevant music documentaries. The final screening of the day will be Finisterre, a homeage to London,presented and scored by Saint Etienne.

The Friday evening will be inspired by the vibrant electronic music scene in Paris. There will be sets from Sebastian, DJ Feadz, Uffie, Kafka, Noblesse Oblige, and Ben Osborne.

on Saturday there will be two documentary films focusing on musicans who lead troubled lives but managed to achieve success. The first is called The Devil and Daniel Johnson and the second is called Jandek on Corwood.

They'll have to catch us is a showcase of a series of music shorts from Domino Records. There will also be live performances from Youthmovie Soundtrack Strategies, Frank Turner, The Former Bulies and SeaBuzzard. As well as Je T'Aime...Serge Gainsbourg, a exploration of the life of Serge Gainsbourg, presented by F'eatre.

On Saturday night Vector Lovers will be performing original live electronic music to films made 100 years ago by Mitchell and Kenyon. Other acts performing on Saturday night include Les Hommes Du Train, Caged Baby, Spektrum and Temposhark.

On Sunday there will be an early screening of The Wicker Man with a live soundtrack by The Memory Band featuring Adem. This will be followed by a performance from Rowan & the Crops Failed. Absentee will be performing music to accompany their chosen film. Little Neemo will also be performing on the Sunday afternoon.

Experimental, but entertaining films will also be screened on Sunday. There will be a programme of 7 short films from the animate! project, demonstrating fresh narrative and aesthetic possibilities in the moving image way beyond live-action and the frame-by-frame confines of conventional animation. There will also be an animated adaption of David Shrigley's Who I am and What I want.

Finally, using inflatable tombstone structures Andrew Kotting will be bringing his 'In the Wake of Deadad' work to the Sunday at Latitude. The festival will then be closed with performances from A Man Called Adam, Crazy Girl, Nathan Fake, Two Dollar Bash and Overlap.
