the people's festival, Liverpool Loves is a three-day event that provides a platform to celebrate, participate and create everything people are so passionate about across Liverpool City Region.

All You Need is Liverpool Loves! Is the message behind this year’s event which will once again focus on the festival’s fab four core themes: business, culture and food and wellbeing over the weekend of Thursday 4th until Saturday 6th August 2016 on the city's iconic Pier Head.

Line-up

The Main Stage afternoon programme with The Guide Liverpool runs from 12pm to 5pm and will be hosted by The Guide Liverpool’s Jay Hynd. Acts confirmed so far are The Hummingbirds; Halem; Native Kings; The Soul Rays; Shamona; Clare Sophia; Deliah; Eleanor Nelly; Spink; Joe Slater; and DJs Liam Hincks b2b Lee Butler.

The afternoon programme on the Rider Stage runs from 12pm to 6pm, and will be hosted by The Rider and John Gibbons. Acts will include The Ragamuffins; The Cheap Thrills; Shellsuit; The Stamp; The Bad Habits, The Jjohns and Jo Symes and The Loving Kind.

There is a full day programme on the Culturebox Stage, which is being hosted in conjunction with a number of festival partners and DJs. Activity will run between 8am and 9pm.

The Culturebox Stage programme starts with Morning Gloryville between 8am and 12pm, this will be followed from 12pm to 6pm by Gongapalooza; Huayun Arts; China Pearl; Liverpool Arabic Arts Festival; and Viva Brazil and Katumba. Then from 6pm to 9pm, visitors can enjoy the sounds of Greg Wilson and DJ Bernie Connor.

Visitors can look forward to a full programme at Bar Funk between 12pm and 9pm with programmes from SoulFest and Liverpool Disco Festival.

First up is SoulFest from 12pm to 5pm with Little Grace; Spxken; Xtine; Chesqua; Luke Cusato; Lyons & Le Zel – with more acts to be announced. Then from 5pm to 9pm, Liverpool Disco Festival welcome Andy Ash and Liverpool Disco Festival residents.

Returning for its second year is the Merseyrail Sound Station Pop-Up, with performances between 12pm and 5pm. Acts confirmed so far are Lumen; Astles; and Eleanor Nelly.

Liverpool Loves

There will be lots of cultural activity, a music programme across three stages, a kids programme created for family audiences and loads of independent street food traders and local bars; as well as a series of activities created to show people how to lead happy and healthy lives and have fun while doing it.

This year’s Main Stage is tipped to be bigger and better than ever - welcoming a range of rising local favourites and headline talent.

The daytime programme runs from 12pm to 5pm, and the evening programme follows up from 5pm to 9pm, the Culturebox tent showcases the city’s diverse international communities through music, dance and traditional arts between 12pm and 6pm.

Liverpool Arab Arts Festival will be on hand to provide a taste of North Africa and the Middle East; China Pearl and Huayun Arts return with a range of beautiful traditional Chinese music and dance - alongside the Milap Fest, who’ll offer up a show-stopping array of Indian sounds. The premier Brazilian and Afro-fusion samba bloco, Katumba will perform, and the Viva Brasil carnival dancers and the HeartBeat Drumming Circle have a special, surprise performance planned for the festival finale.

As well as an exciting programme of animation and activity, Circo’s famous circus performers be performing across the site and the Main Stage.

Putting a bit of soul into the heart of the event - the hotly tipped SoulFest by Soul Inspired Events CIC are confirmed to take over a section of the programme, supported by exciting newcomers Liverpool Disco Festival who’ll be playing vintage funk, disco and soulful house classics until late.

Finally, The Rider will be running a final stage to showcase emerging local artistes, alongside the brilliant Merseyrail Soundstation pop-up with a more intimate offer of acoustic sets.

Fitting in with Liverpool Loves’ commitment to showcasing sole-traders and local businesses - Independent Liverpool will build on their already growing event programme this year by hosting a producer’s festival market on site; alongside the much-loved Capstan’s Bazaar, who’ll show off the best local makers from around the region with all things arts and crafts.

Liverpool Loves will promote and celebrate all the things that Liverpool has to offer, in turn supporting new business with profits raised through the event. The Thursday will be more focused on business, Friday will offer a stand-alone event showcasing why Liverpool Loves Nightlife, while the Saturday is billed as festival day.

Free-to-attend and open to all, the highlight of the weekend will be a fun-packed family friendly event with something on offer for everyone. A diverse, home-grown music programme will be supported by cultural and pop-up performances providing a flavour of Liverpool’s local and international communities. Street theatre, African drummers, Brazilian dancers, Arab and Asian arts will appear alongside art installations and more.

A finale is planned for sunset on the main stage - watch this space. And as well as lots of activities and events for young people and families with children, there will also be over 30 local independent food and drink stalls and bars.

As part of the wellbeing programme; there will be reiki taster sessions, healthy eating businesses, children's yoga, Morning Gloryville and much more.

Liverpool Loves is the brainchild of Debbie Boyd, Director of Orb Events, who created Liverpool Pride 2010 and is co-creator of the Brazilica Festival.

Accommodation

The festival offers no accommodation at the event. There are plenty of accommodation options available in the city.
