Kilsyth International Carnival will not be taking place during 2009 as no match funding has been received, the event has been postponed until weekend 14th and 15th August 2010.

The Kilsyth International Carnival, after a year off in 2008 returns to Kilsyth on as a week long event from Saturday 8th to Sunday 16th August 2009.

The festival features acts from all over the world although no artists are confirmed yet for 2009.

Expect there to be four stages, (contemporary, world, dance and folk) a funfair, train rides, costumed parade, glen walks, waterfalls, craft stalls, beer tent, BBQ food, and free parking in Kilsyth town centre (750 yards away).

The event will include a programme of recreational, heritage, environmental, sporting and cultural activities. Planned events during the week include a fun run around the villages on Sunday 9th August; gala days and concerts, sports tournaments, a regatta on the canal, guided walks along the Antonine Wall, Colzium, Round Kilsyth walk and Dumbreck Marsh, a cycle hill climb up Tak Ma Doon Rd, a major modern dance competition on Thursday 13th, and a trade fair, boot-sale & craft fair on Friday 14th. Followed by an evening concert in the big tent.

On the 15th August there will be a re-enactment of the Civil War battle of Kilsyth (15th August 1642) involving 500 volunteers from the Civil War societies (Sealed Knot etc) in full period costume. This will be followed by a large ceilidh for up to 2,000 fans in the big tent.

The festival will culminate in the Carnival Day itself on Sunday 16th August. followed by an evening concert. Artists will be announced later. It is expected that tickets for the evening headline concert events will go on sale on 1st May.
