The 32nd Brecon Jazz Festival now titled the Brecon Jazz Weekend takes place from Friday 12th until Sunday 14th August 2016, offering a mix of Great Brits and legendary Jazz stars.
Friday: On Friday, the festival commences with a reception and live music at Theatr Brycheiniog and an exhibition on Women in Jazz opening at the Guildhall. Later in the evening, The Castle Hotel and Brecon Jazz Club present the Teddy Smith big band with vocals and dancing to launch the concert programme, followed by Wales’s own Kizzy Crawford at the theatre.
Saturday: Saturday will see day one of Brecon Jazz: Futures at Theatr Brycheiniog with workshops and moretreet entertainment plus headline concerts at Brecon Cathedral, the Guildhall and the theatre. Rounding off the day will be the ever popular Jazz Jam session.
Sunday: Sunday highlights include the Brecon Cathedral Jazz Service, the climax of the Futures programme at Theatr Brycheiniog and concerts at the Cathedral and Guildhall.
Brecon Guildhall Theatre, Castle Hotel, Brecon Cathedral, The Muse and Theatr Brycheiniog, will present over twenty concerts over the weekend.
Ticket prices vary depending upon event.
Expect around 25 concerts over the weekend, which will also feature free family events - Fireworks on Friday, a Jazz Carnival parade on Saturday, and the Jazz Service on Sunday.
This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
