Organisers of Somersault Festival - a 'summercamp of music, adventure, and outdoor living' which took place for a 2nd consecutive year at Castle Hill in Barnstaple, North Devon from Thursday 23rd until Monday 27th July 20154 have announced they will not be returning in 2016.

The festival was headlined this year by Bombay Bicycle Club, and Laura Marling as well as a line-up that included Angus & Julia Stone, Imelda May, The Staves, Jimmy Cliff, Rae Morris, Bear's Den, DJ Yoda, Norman Jay, The Correspondents, Jeremy Loops, Laura Doggett, Ibibio Sound Machine, Diagrams, The Shires, Swing Patrol and more.

A statement on the event's website (here) says, "Following this years’ weather conditions and subsequent discussions with the estate, both Lord and Lady Arran and the Somersault festival organisers recognise the need to take a break and allow the land some time to recover.

"It’s been wonderful to have the opportunity to organise such a unique festival within the stunning grounds at Castle Hill, enjoyed by a record 30 thousand people over its inaugural two years. We’d like to thank our devoted audience, our talented festival team and our amazing partners for the many incredible memories and we look forward to bringing Somersault back to Castle Hill soon."

This year's festival coincided with some very wet weather and more than 16,000 people left the Castle Hill's grounds badly damaged and subsequent reparation is still on going.

Lady Arran has questioned how bad weather is dealt in the future in her blog and said that "another trashing like this year is unsustainable despite the enjoyment for festival goers."
