The future of next summer's family friendly GuilFest looks in doubt after the company ceased trading due to poor ticket sales at this year's event in July.

Organisers of the music festival said some of the worst weather experienced in its history causing a poor daily walk up was to blame along with the festival clashing with other events this year like the Farnborough International Airshow.

A statement from festival founder, Tony Scott, says:
"Scotty Events Ltd regret to announce that GuilFest has ceased to trade due to poor ticket sales at this year's event in July.

We assess that this was down to the worst weather conditions we have experienced in history of the festival, combined with intense competition presented this year from other events.

On-going matters now lie in the hands of the insolvency practitioner Leigh Adams LLP.

Tony Scott and the GuilFest team would like to extend their thanks to everybody who has been involved in working with the festival in its 21 years, the artists who performed and of course the thousands of attendees, without whom none of the events would have been possible.

It has been a privilege and a pleasure to organise GuilFest and see it evolve into the renowned festival it has become
."
The three day festival celebrated its 21st birthday this year and featured Olly Murs, Bryan Ferry, Jools Holland & His Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, Tulisa, Jimmy Cliff, Gary Numan, Candi Staton, Cher Lloyd, Tim Minchin, Chic feat. Nile Rodgers, The Straits, Buzzcocks, The Undertones, Nouvelle Vague, Skindred, Beth Hart, Young Guns, The Wurzels, Ash, ABC, The South, Heaven 17, The Beat, Republica, and many more.

One of the older events, Guildford Live was re-named GuilFest in 2002 and has each year offered a multitude of different musical styles with classic and modern acts, plus entertainment, children's area, art and crafts, and a truly festive atmosphere.

It has been one of eFestivals favourite festivals, and one that we've sponsored since 2002. Organiser Tony Scott told eFestivals that he hopes to bring back the event or another similar one to the area in the future. eFestivals thinks it will be a shame if this festival is lost from the festival calendar.
