Tennent's Vital will return after a four year absence to Northern Ireland on Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th August 2011, at Ward Park, in Bangor, and will run for the next three years.

The Tennents Vital fan site Vital Music (here) has been campaigning on Facebook for the event to make a return.

Aisling Duffy, Head of Marketing with Tennent's NI, told the site, "It really is a case of 'back by popular demand'. Over 3000 fans joined facebook campaigns to bring Tennent's Vital back and we received that message loud and clear. However, we felt it was important to hold off until we could deliver the level and mix of headline bands and incredible supporting acts that made Tennent's Vital such a great festival experience. Tennent's has a hard earned reputation for associating itself with innovation and excellence in live music. We know the fans will not only be delighted to have Tennent's Vital back for a guaranteed three year run; they'll also be blown away by the line-up."

The last time the event was held in 2007 at Ormeau Park, in Belfast, when a combined audience of over 45,000 across the two days watched Razorlight and The Killers headline with the Manic Street Preachers, The View, Kasabian, Mark Ronson, The Shins, and Albert Hammond Jr also making appearances.

Tennent's hopes to emulate the success of Scotland's T In The Park and working in partnership with MCD plan to deliver Northern Ireland its own major festival. The first acts are expected to be confirmed for the event in two weeks time, when ticket prices are also expected to be announced.
