A limited number of swaps are available to people who are still holding a ticket from the cancelled BGG 2009 & have not yet had a refund or ticket swap. They should email gg2011swap@big-green-gathering.com at their earliest convenience to avoid disappointment and before Monday 9th May 2011.

The controversial last minute cancellation of The Big Green Gathering in 2009 was a major catastrophe for the The Big Green Gathering company, its suppliers and most importantly the ticket holders.

Since then the main thrust of the BGG has been working with other events to try to find ways of settling debts to ticket holders and this has mainly been through ticket swaps to similar events.

The 2011 Green Gathering is a new company that has been formed to fill the gap left and maintain the culture set by The Big Green Gathering. Everyone who has enjoyed the Big Green Gatherings in the past are invited to this new event showcasing the educational aspects of environmental sustainability for the 21st Century.

This event comprises of many of the people who have been involved with the Big Green Gatherings in the past so it will contain all of the features of the BGG but on a smaller scale.

The 2011 Green Gathering follows the tradition of environmentally and ethically conscious events that have been known for over 30 years. These gatherings developed into the main 'green' events in Britain, if not the world, showcasing future technologies, alternative ways of life and inspired many people to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle before Green Living became mainstream.

The 2011 Green Gathering promotes and platforms sustainable lifestyles through combining education with entertainment.

Powered by renewable energy it will also host lively family gathering favourites including ethical markets, organic catering, speakers and films, music and cabaret stages, healing and holistic therapies as well as a variety of esoteric alternatives, traditional British crafts and workshops. There will naturally be a very fun, creative, energetic children's area. At The 2011 Green Gathering families are invited to play and learn together, relax and have fun.

The gathering is inclusive and 100% accessible with a specialist area with a team of dedicated people that will be able to assist with additional and specialised needs. The first ever Transition Area will network the Transition Towns movement and showcase local initiatives started by groups of people nationwide for the benefit of their community and for the environment, raising local awareness of the inevitable result of climate change and the end of cheap abundant oil.

An early bird adult tickets is priced at £75, a teen (aged 12-16 years) ticket is priced at £50, with free entry for kids (aged under 12). A car parking ticket is priced at £20, motocycle parking is £10, and a caravan or campervan ticket is priced at (an additional) £10. All towed caravans will be required to buy a Car Park Pass AND a Caravan Pass. To buy tickets, click here.

The Green Gathering 2011 aims to encourage people to rethink how they live their life's and to inspire them and their families to recycle, reuse and reduce, to become more self-reliant, to grow their own food, to learn a new skill and use public transport, all small practical steps to ease the negative impact modern society is having on the environment.
