Raglan Music Festival 2009

Now in its fifth year the Raglan Music Festival held in Raglan, Monmouthshire has grown from a local village get-together to a weekend event attracting crowds of over 4000 people who not only listen, but participate in an outstanding community festival. The festival takes place from Friday 12th to Sunday 14th June 2009.

The 2009 line-up includes Nicky Campbell on the Friday night, and Gwent Youth Orchestra.
Friday: Nicky Campbell, Smerins Anti-Social Club, Chris Welsh.
Saturday: Dave Swarbrick, Ashley Hutchings, Lark Rise Band, Three Other Tenors from Welsh National Opera.
Sunday Barbershop Quartet, Cambria String Quartet, Abba Gold.

At the new venue Raglan Parc Golf Club, diners can enjoy Big Band sounds with Monmouth Big Band, Sixties and Barbershop music throughout the weekend.

Some of the highlights scheduled are children's workshops, battle of the bands, Bridget + Big Girl Blues, and a DJ workshop. Nicky Campbell of Radio Five's Watchdog fame will open the Festival and perform live on Friday night.

During the three day event more than forty performances are planned plus countless informal jam sessions, street performers and buskers. A community led event embracing all ages and musical genres from blues, choral, classical, folk, pop and rock, at one of the numerous venues around the village. Many events are free.

There are also free workshops for young people to have the opportunity of a lesson on the instrument of their choice, plus open jam sessions in the pubs. There will also be children's workshops, battle of the bands, family ceilidh, and a DJ workshop.
