Celebrating Plymouth's multicultural society with a fusion of music, performance, arts and information. The festival is based around the Guildhall and City Centre Plazas. After a year out in 2010, the 13th Plymouth Respect Festival takes place on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th October 2011.

Many cultures will represented at the event.

Line-up

This year the event will kick off with Rhythms for Respect, an evening of dance and music featuring Siga La Salsa, Chimanimani and Too Hot. Tickets cost £5 and are available from Vibes Music and The Plymouth & Devon Racial Equality Office (or on the door on the night). Licensed bar and food will be available.

Samba Sunday will see Samba bands from across the South West converging on Plymouth to strut through the city. Parade starts at 10am by the Sundial.

The parade coordinated by Barefoot, will be led by a Samba band and will include 7 Plymouth schools (100 young people and their families), Emerge Circus Group and UCP Marjon International Students. The theme of the parade is Fire and Heat so wear something colourful and come and join in.

The parade will end at Plymouth Guildhall and signal the start of the Respect Festival at 11am, a free family event, with Live music performances from Pearl of African Children's Choir, plus stalls, performances, workshops, info stands, world food, coffee shop, activities for children and much, much more.

Other events

There are also workshops, children's activities, stalls with information and world food give aways plus, on Sunday expect a parade starting from the sundial, Armada Way at 10.30am. The music will be as culturally varied as the festival itself.

The event will also have outdoor activities all day, with Crazy bikes, Climbing Wall, Skate Park, and an interactive fire engine display. Sunday will include Children's play area and workshops. One world stage, information stands, workshops stands and stalls, and more.

Accommodation

This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
