Yorkshire Blues Festival has been cancelled. A statement says:

A new Blues festival due to take place at Magna on Saturday 30th April for a 3 day period has been cancelled due to poor advance ticket sales and sponsorship. The first year of the festival had received great PR and interest to the international line up but advance ticket sales were unfortunately too slow and the organisers had to make the difficult decision to cancel the event.

Event organisers said "We had to make the decision as the financial implications of running the event without the support of advance ticket sales were too great. The festivals core aim was to raise money for really deserving local and national charities so this decision was certainly not taken lightly."

People who have purchased advance ticket to the event will be contacted and ticket money will be reimbursed in full.

The Yorkshire Blues Festival is a new three day event commemorating the legacy of Alexis Korner and the many musicians he inspired. The blues event will be held from Saturday 30th April until Monday 2nd May 2011, and takes place at the 5,000 capacity Magna Science Adventure Park between Sheffield and Rotherham on the M1 motorway.

30+ musicians will appear over 2 stages including the Alexis Korner memorial stage. Acts confirmed include Jack Bruce, The Animals & Friends + Spencer Davis, The Blues Band, Andy Fairweather Low, Nine Below Zero, Dr Feelgood, Sandi Thom, The Hamsters, Aynsley Lister, Chris Farlowe, Connie Lush & Blues Shouter, Martin Turners Wishbone Ash, Colin Hodgkinson, Larry Garner, Zoot Money, Micky Moody Band, Herbie Goins, Maggie Bell, Geoff Whitehorn, Deborah Bonham, Paul Lamb & The Kingsnakes, Frank White Band, Chantel McGregor, King King, Cliff Stockers Legendary Slack Alice, Danny Bryants, Redeye Band, The Stumble, Big Thrill, Cutters Law, and more to be announced.

Ttickets are priced at £36 per day, £67 for 2 days or £98 for a weekend. To buy tickets click here.

The festival will also raise funds for selected charities such as Bluebell Wood Hospice and McMillan Cancer Support. Alexis was cared for at the Beechwood Centre and such charities will benefit from this event..

The venue provides comfortable facilities for a festival under one roof, with two stages, snacks or dining, real ales and wines and relaxation areas. The venue has good rail, road and air links.

The Festival will open each day at 1:30 and run until at least 11pm that evening.

This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.

More information will be here when available.
