Sheffield Live and Unsigned is a public showcase for the city’s upcoming unsigned bands. The festival is being held as a celebration of the recent rise in Sheffield based music following the success of Arctic Monkeys and the signing of five more Sheffield acts to major record labels.

This project is the beginning of a five-year plan to host a major event that not only showcases local talent but attracts visitors and acts of national and international repute to Sheffield.

The event will be held on Devonshire Green over the first weekend in September and it will be free to attend with tickets issued through the Sheffield Star and several venues across the city. The event will accommodate up to 4,999 people at any one time and will be securely fenced to control entry and to contain the alcohol being sold through the licensed bar on site.

The event will run from 1pm until 9.30pm each day with the bar and additional snack and refreshment stalls open from 1pm to 9pm. The main stage will be an open-air installation for the bands and the bar tent will also feature DJ performances through out the weekend.

The other installation on site is a children’s entertainment area, which will feature rides, art workshops and sporting activities.

Acts confirmed for the festival so far include Atoness, Avangaad, Bison, The Cherokees, Navvy, Smokers Die Younger, Bare Knuckle Soul, Viva High Rollers, The Guild, This Floating World, Monkey Swallows the Universe, Baby Long Legs, Sarah Jay, Ninio, The Dodgems, The Miramar Disaster, and Little Glitches.
