Caversham Festival returns to Christchurch Meadows, Caversham, in Reading this year over two days on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th of July 2015.

The Caversham Festival is a free community festival that attracts 24,000 visitors annually showcasing local musical talent, arts, crafts and produce.

As well as music there's a dedicated kids area, arts and crafts workshops, food including a farmers market selling local produce and much more.

Now in its 15th year, the event includes 3 music stages, food, children's workshops, fairground rides, boat rides, arts and craft stalls, dance demonstrations, performance art, theatre and much more.

This year's event also includes free samba and Bhangra dance workshops for all ages, an intriguing willow world, boat rides, the Sunday Samba Parade, 'electronica' dance tent, world music stage, children’s rides and inflatables, a bar and a wide variety of world food.

The festival's main aims are to promote local businesses, community groups, artists, performers and charities in Caversham. Anyone interested is highly encouraged to get in contact and submit ideas to Readipop so that they can get involved and be included. All ideas will be considered. There are already some scheduled events that fall within the festival dates, which Readipop hopes to enhance with extra arts activities. These include a Summer Fayre, put on by Thameside Primary School and a Church Fete in Caversham Court. Readipop are keen to boost the musical, local arts and cultural aspects of this event and create a strong annual showcase for Readipop's projects.

Music and arts charity Readipop, who have organised the festival for the last three years, are going all out to make this year's event the best yet with more arts, music, creative workshops local performers and businesses.

The riverside area is being transformed into a playground for performance and family entertainment and the festival will have a new theatre corner curated by Reading-based company Beautiful Creatures. Festival-goers will be able to enjoy a programme which includes children's theatre, a baby disco, cabaret, walkabout performers, magicians and immersive booth shows.

Audiences will also experience the premier of Beautiful Creatures' new outdoor performance 'The Fortress'. There will also be a chance to get involved with the new theatre corner as a performer, production crew or steward.

Accommodation

This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
