Liverpool's Brazilica Festival takes place from Friday 12th until Saturday 20th July in various city centre locations.

Programme

Sargento Pimenta, Tribo Da Pesada & Fabio Allman, The Fontanas, Solo Sagrado, Liverpool Samba School, Viva Brasil Dance Shows and DJs Gary Garamendi, Silvao and Fabio.

Brand new for 2013, a programme of events at various city venues starting on Friday 12th July will warm the city up for the main carnival and parade day. A week-long festival celebrating the vibrant culture of Brazil with over twenty events taking place at venues across the city including the annual Carnival Ball and Carnival Queen Competition, Brazilian film screenings, carnival art exhibitions and Liverpool’'s first capoeira competition.

Carnival day itself takes palce on Saturday 20th July in Williamson Square. The carnival parade will take place in the evening and will include samba groups from countries as wide-ranging as Brazil, Singapore, France, Holland, Ireland, Germany and Spain, with prestigious bands such as Paraiso School of Samba (who featured heavily in the 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony) getting involved. Bands from Japan, Poland, Sweden and Italy are already expressing interest in performing in this year’s parade.

Line-up

Authentic Brazilian musicians will perform Williamson Square throughout the day. There will also be a second stage featuring vibrant music and dance performances. No acts are confirmed yet.

Tickets

This isn't a ticketed event as the carnival/parade and workshops are all FREE. The afterparty on Saturday night (venue to be confirmed) will have an entry fee, but will only be equivalent to other club nights, roughly £5.

Accommodation

The festival offers no accommodation at the event. There are plenty of accommodation options available in the city.

More info

Expect a wide selection of Latin American food and drink. Elsewhere in the city centre (locations to be announced very soon) will see the return of the ‘Soccer Zone’ and the celebrity 5 a side match!
