The Black Horse Festival 2009

Celebrating its 21st birthday in 2009, this is a small festival often featuring renowned world musicians, taking place annually in the grounds of The Black Horse public house. There is a bar selling real ales and food is available either from the barbecue, or from the Black Horse. Collections are made for one or more selected charities.

The festival offers blues, folk, and world music from Friday 22nd until Monday 25th May. So far artists due to appear include:
Friday Evening (doors 19:30) King Size Slim, Sam Kelly's Station House, Aynsley Lister.
Saturday Afternoon (doors 13:00) Telham Tinkers, T.B.A., Norcsalordie, Jim Moray.
Saturday Evening (doors 19:45) Zoe Konez, Uiscedwr, Wheeler Street.
Sunday Afternoon (doors 13:30) T.B.A., Almaraya, Abdelkadar Saadoun.
Sunday Evening (doors 19:45) Cajun Dawgs, Sunday Drivers, Achanak.
Monday Afternoon (doors 13:30) Blindsight, Red Was Here, Wear Wolves, Welcome to Winchester, My Toy Box.
Monday Evening (doors 19:30) No Exit, Blair, Red Stripe Band.

Saturday has an afternoon of folk music with a session, workshops and other acts at "The Club in the Pub" with story telling and a free Punch & Judy show, Hastings Circus, jugglers and face painters will be on site.

Following on in Black Horse tradition Sunday is set aside as 'World Music Day'.

On the Monday afternoon young bands session and the famous Monday night party night.

Originally in a tent with a farm trailer for a stage the festival now has huge marquees with a big stage, light and sound system, off road parking, a second outside bar area and a barbecue and food area.

A free bus runs to and from Battle train station and local camp sites. There is free off road parking too. Camping is not available on site but there are plenty of camp sites in the locality. For full details, contact tourist information.

There is camping space, and bed and breakfast available.
