This event is run in a different location within the United Kingdom each time. It is the biggest free live music event in the UK and always includes a host of new artists.
The event, more than double the capacity of previous Big Weekends, will feature six stages of music.

The latest additions is Rita Ora.Artists already confirmed are headliners Jay-Z and Rihanna, plus Kasabian, Ben Howard, Madeon, Trey Songz, Sean Paul, Tinchy Stryder, Flo Rida, Devlin, Azealia Banks, Mindless Behavior, Chip, Boy Better Know, Skepta, JME, Andy C, Bombay Bicycle Club, Calvin Harris, Chase & Status, Dappy, David Guetta, D'banj, Deadmau5, DJ Fresh, Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sande, Eric Prydz, Flux Pavilion & Doctor P, Florence & the Machine, Jack White, Jessie J, Labrinth, Lana Del Rey, Leona Lewis, Magnetic Man, Maverick Sabre, Michael Kiwanuka, Nero, Plan B, Professor Green, Rizzle Kicks, Sub Focus, Swedish House Mafia, Taio Cruz, The Maccabees, The Ting Tings, Tinie Tempah, Will.i.am, and Wretch 32.

Tickets
Tickets are free and are obtained through a lottery. There is no charge for the concert itself, but a handling fee of £2.50 per ticket will be applied to help cover all associated ticket handling costs. The majority of the tickets for BBC Radio 1's Hackney Weekend 2012 are being allocated to people living in Hackney and the surrounding boroughs. Registration is now open, and will close at 11pm on Monday 19th March.
