T in the Park organisers were given 'state aid' funding by the Scottish Government to help bankroll the event at the new site at Strathallan Castle in Perthshire reveals a report on the state aid section of the Scottish Government's website (here).

The bail-out of public money amounting to £150,000 was made just 10 days before the event was held, and was not made public at the time. The funding was provided to "help ensure the successful transition" to the Strathallan Estate, described as "their new temporary site."

It is estimated the major event generated more than £15 million for the Scottish economy in 2014, and after planning permission was granted the cultural significance of the event, and the economic and tourism benefits were recognised by the Scottish Government who invested the money to support the event.

The Scottish Government reveal they provided the state aid explaining, "T in the Park, delivered by DF Concerts, has received one-off grant funding support of £150,000 from the Scottish Government to help ensure the successful transition of this iconic music festival to their new temporary site at Strathallan in Perthshire.

"The outcomes of the grant aid are to, support the objectives of Scotland’s national events strategy and enhance Scotland’s major events portfolio; boost the events, tourism and national economies; and achieve the successful transition of the T in the Park event from Balado in Fife to Strathallan in Perthshire.

"This grant award has been made under section 23 of the National Heritage (Scotland) Act 1985."

Update: The Courier have revealed, (here), that this was not one off bail-out but that the organisers DF Concerts had received a £373,000 in public money since 2012.

The 22nd edition saw the the event for 92,000 music fans happen over full three days from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th July and featured a line-up including Kasabian, The Libertines, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds The Prodigy, Stereophonics, Avicii, David Guetta, Sam Smith, Rudimental, Fatboy Slim, Hozier, Mark Ronson (DJ set), The Script, Twin Atlantic, alt-J, George Ezra, Jessie J, Courteeners, The Vaccines, Art Department, The Proclaimers, St. Vincent, Jamie T, Paloma Faith, Above & Beyond, Alabama Shakes, Kodaline, Catfish & the Bottlemen, Clean Bandit, and many more.
