The Wickerman is currently working on a television advertising campaign and are looking for an original piece of music which best captures the feel and spirit of the family friendly music weekender. Not only that the winning entry will also be offered a main stage opening slot.

Festival Director Sid Ambrose explained, "This is a brilliant opportunity for any unsigned act that can create an original piece of music. Not only will their soundtrack be heard by an estimated 3 million people but they also win the chance to support some big name acts."

Entries can be made by either a band or individual who must submit original material For full details and terms and conditions check out the Festival's competition page (here).

The 9th Wickerman festival will happen on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th July 2010 on 120 acres of isolated farmland, near Dundrennan, South West Scotland, in deepest Galloway. The festival welcomes families, and features two main stages, as well as a dance area, acoustic and reggae tents, a campsite, trade stalls, alternative area, bars, and food stalls. There are no acts confirmed yet for this year's event.

Weekend adult tickets cost £85, teens aged 13-15 cost £42.50, kids under 13 are admitted free. To buy, click here.

This year's fancy dress theme is Vampires and Werewolves. Festival goers are invited to bring their Halloween costumes and get in the Hammy Horror groove for next July's fangtastic celebration of all things Fiery and Fearsome.
