Festival goers heading to Reading festival which takes place at Little Johns Farm, Richfield Avenue, Reading, Berkshire on the bank holiday weekend, from Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th August are being asked to bring their air guitar to help break a world record and say bollocks to poverty.

On Thursday 21 August, charity ActionAid will be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the 'largest air guitar ensemble' at Reading Festival.

The charity are inviting all wannabe rockers to the Bollocks to Poverty tent to take part in the record breaking attempt on the first evening of the festival by strumming along for charity.

Leading the crowd will be air guitarist expert and UK Air Guitar Championships regular, Dave 'Wildman' Pickles. A representative from Guinness World Records will also be on hand to check entrants abide by the stringent rules. All air guitars must be played correctly and consistently in order to qualify.

The tune which revellers need to rock along to is still being kept top secret as ActionAid representatives trawl their Iron Maiden, Motorhead and Guns N Roses collections, debating whether to keep it classic or surprise the crowd with something a bit more inventive.

As part of this we are also running an online competition with the chance to win a pair of tickets to this year's festival, all the entrants have to do is upload their own air guitar video onto http://www.myspace.com/bollockstopoverty and the best one wins! (The closing date is the 15th August). For more details on Bollocks to Poverty please visit www.myspace.com/bollockstopoverty.
