ROCK WERCHTER INFORMATION

What is it?

Werchter is an annual music festival held in the village of Werchter, Belguim, which started in 1974. It started as a one day event, then expanded to two days in 1996, then three days in 1999, and in 2003 it turned into a four day festival when Live Nation took over from owner Herman Schueremans. The event was a double festival like Reading and Leeds, holding the twin event in Torhout, but since 1999 it has been focused in Werchter.

The festival attracts the largest touring names of the year on a jam packed bill, and has seen Radiohead, Beastie Boys, Bjork, Chemical Brothers and Pearl Jam play in just the last few years. Many of the larger UK bands play early afternoon sets here, as the more established bands take the headlining slots.

The ticket price includes all travel within Belgium.
