Ahhh the Lock Up stage, the stage boasting the best party of the weekend, and packed full of punk fans ready to get hot and sweaty all day! In Send more Paramedics they (and me) are sure to work up a sweat. Zombie-core has arrived and the band are real zombies you know hence their pallor – it’s not face make up – no they really are grey/green with blood flowing from their foreheads.

Lead singer xUndeadx does lots of “Gworrrrr!” yells and the tent is battered with blistering bass chops and speed, thrash paced drums. The guitar work would have Slayer proud. The zombie songs have a driving bass and crunching guitar. Most of the lyrics are unintelligible, well I don’t speak zombie! But the overall sound is great to thrash your head to.

There’s loads of huge blokes on the edge of the stage you wouldn’t want to mess with, who appear not to get into the songs to make us “Twitch, shiver and shake to!” Songs that could be called, ‘Blood Fever’, ‘Bleed it to Destruction’, ‘Sever’ and ‘Be Undead’ are all guttural and the lead zombie climbs into the pit and up to yell into the faces of the crowd on the front barrier.

I have to say I really like zombie-core loads it’s way better than the punk lite of many US bands as well as UK ones like Fightstar currently gracing the main stage. Zombies wanna see us twitchin’ and we do, we love undead zombies they rule!
