After a gruelling journey, we eventually arrive at the stunning setting of Belvedere House in Co. Westmeath. The sun is blazing and so we are thankful for a short journey to the campsite. We finally get our tent pitched and head into the festival to check out the action. The first act we check out is Jonny Boy in the liquid tent; Jonny is the promoter of Global Virus, arguably Northern Ireland's finest underground electronic night, which is still running strong after 6 years. Jonny treats us to a delightful warm up set full of breaks and groovy baselines, 'Tipper - Open the Jowls' and 'Force Mass motion - Out of it' are two standouts from a flawless set.

Psycatron are next up in the Big Top arena, they move meticulously through a variety of electronic genres to create a genre defying set which sees them whip the crowd in the big top arena into frenzy. Splicing techno classics with their own live re-edits and with a killer ear for a groove these guys are always going to go down well at any dance event.

Robbie Ryan keeps the pace up in The Big Top area. Co-Promoter of the Big Dish Go nights in Dublin, he plays a set full of dark and twisted beats, fuelled on by a love for the bass, the tracks he fires out travel right through your body and is yet another example of the local lads holding their own with the international acts on the bill over the course of the weekend.

Neil Landstrumm brings his live wonk fest to The Big Top on Friday night. Running from glitch to dub and always keeping the dance floor moving, this is one of the highlights of the weekend. One of the most consistent producers in the business, lauded by his peers, he is constantly changing with the times. He delivers a set full of wobble which goes down a storm with the Big Top which is nearly full to capacity at this point.

After this onslaught it's only right that we seek a break from the rave and we stumble across a precocious talent on the Human Music stage - Daithi O'Dronai. Using an electric fiddle, keyboard and an effects pedal, he manages to bring electronic and traditional Irish music together to create something very unique. Upon further investigation Daithi had been involved in an X Factor type show in Ireland the year previous were he got to the final. Based on this performance it's hard to see who could have bested him, possibly the most interesting act I came across all weekend and definitely the nicest surprise package.

Frequency 7 finish off the night in the Big Top, a fusion of styles from Ben Sims and Surgeon, performing together creating a uniquely improvised experience combining elements of techno, funk, dub, house, hip-hop, disco, industrial etc. utilizing turntables, CD decks, FX & all the latest Hardware/Software technology they can get their mitts on. They play a relentless set which leaves us all smiles and suitably satisfied.
