The band that had the unfortunate task of opening the Scottish Download was ‘HIM’. Due to them being the first band, the sound wasn’t quite right and it made them sound crap. But like true professionals they gracefully belted out their brand of rock music including a cover version of ‘Wicked Game’.

Slipknot

The sound was sorted out in time for fellow masked rockers Slipknot - back to their old ways with creepy masks and just pure manic rock music. These guys clearly know how to rock and even today they still have that ability to keep an audience eating out of their hands.

KoRn

Korn were next, and they never fail to impress. No disrespect to them - a lot of their new stuff didn’t go down to well with the audience - but their old classics like ‘Shoots and Ladders’ and ‘A.D.I.D.A.S’ caused a huge ripple in the mosh-pit. Korn clearly have still got that midas touch.

Naturally there could only ever be one headliner for a rock festival: the mighty Metallica. Even after recording albums for over 20 years, James, Rob, Lars and Kirk were playing the songs as if they had only just written them, and the passion that was so lacking in their previous live gigs has returned.

Metallica

They played an absolutely faultless set - and put every last drop of effort into pleasing the crowd, even including some songs which they haven’t played for years, like ‘The Thing That Should Not Be’. Obviously somethings never change and they still decided to keep ‘One’ for the encore, accompanied by the usual impressive pyrotechnics. Absolutely Amazing - all other rock bands be warned, Metallica are back to regain their crown of rock gods!!!
