Korn’s set starts with an absence of people from the stage and a close-up video shot of their unique microphone stand featuring a pair of metal breasts. For one of their first festival performances in a long time – Korn certainly know how to provide a good show.

They pound through their hits ranging from ‘Here to Stay’ to ‘Freak on a Leash’ – although unlike most sets there doesn’t appear to be a particular favourite with the crowd. This isn’t saying that the crowd aren’t enjoying the hits – on the contrary. The reaction is just as excited for every single song that is played whether it has been released or not. It’s hard not to feel the same.

Some bands are made up of musicians, some bands are made up of friends but Korn seem to just be Korn. They are working as one and the sound they are producing works as a whole and it would seem impossible to hear it without everything working together – this is just one reason why people ranging from 8 to 80 (almost) seem to be head-banging along to the whole set.

Just when you were thinking the set was already pretty good, out comes a cover of Metallica’s ‘One’ to which the fan’s don’t yet know is the only version of the song they’re going to hear today. Thankfully it’s done well.

With a guitar that leaves you begging for more, piercing and powerful vocals, drumming to cause earth quakes and bass that makes you wonder what bassists in other bands are trying to do – Korn are certainly one of the best live acts that you are going to get the chance to see. Make sure you do.
