Blue-eyed crooner Andy Williams has revealed that Glastonbury Festival organiser Michael Eavis has invited him to appear at next year's 40th anniversary of the event.

Michael Eavis (Festival organiser)
The 81 year old singer was a guest at the Cheltenham Literature Festival on Saturday (10th October) at an event to promote his autobiography, 'Moon River And Me'.

The American crooner revealed that Michael Eavis had invited him to perform at the festival's 40th anniversary in an interview with John Wilson, a host with BBC Radio 4's Front Row.

The packed audience at Cheltenham Literature Festival cheered when Williams said he had been booked. The singer explained that he had been approached to perform on the Sunday afternoon slot on the Pyramid stage next year. He said he was minded to do it but obviously dependent on his health.

Williams , who will be 82 next year, started performing with his musical brothers when he was seven years old, had hits with 'Moon River', 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You' and 'Music To Watch Girls By'. He still sings regularly at his Moon River Theatre in his hometown of Branson, Missouri.
