Reading Festival will be back in 2007 on the August Bank Holiday weekend, from Friday 24th - Sunday 26th August. The first acts will be announced on Monday 26th March, with tickets going on sale that evening. Expect a line-up of the biggest names in rock and pop.

The headliners are Razorlight, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Smashing Pumpkins, with most of the acts now confirmed for the main, r1/nme, and Carling stages - see here for the details. There's still more acts to be announced.

For the full list of comedy, cabaret and special one off shows at the festival click here.
Tickets are now sold out.

Children under 13 (12 and under) are admitted free but MUST be accompanied by a ticket holding adult. Please note there is no separate children's area at this event, and eFestivals considers this an event not really suitable for children.

Mean Fiddler produces a guide to Disabled Access and Facilities for all it's festivals, which includes details of the 2-for-1 ticket scheme. Please request a booklet and application form on 020 8961 5490.

On site facilities include: Bars, Cash Points, First Aid & Paramedics, Food & Non Food Stalls, Information. The silent disco will also be making an appearance.

As with previous years organisers Mean Fiddler are keen to encourage festival goers to respect the local residents and the environment and have put in place travel options to encourage everyone to leave their cars at home.

Coach:

There will be special National Express and See Coaches festival services running directly into the site from all over the UK. For National Express enquiries click here.

The Lift Share scheme:

If you have to bring your car to Reading then why not try the lift-share scheme. It will reduce traffic congestion to the festival; you can split petrol costs between you, and helps reduce global warming at the same time. For more information click here.

Peak traffic flows are likely on Thursday 23rd August and on the morning of Friday 24th August as festival goers arrive on site. Most traffic is expected to depart the site late in the evening on Sunday 26th August and before noon on Monday 27th August. Organisers, Mean Fiddler, ask all festival goers to try and avoid these periods unless necessary to minimise congestion.

Both the Reading & Leeds Festivals are taking measures to reduce the impact the event has on the environment. Here's where you can help...

If you fill up a bag with recyclable litter from the camping areas, and bring it to one of the six litter exchange points from 10am – 4pm each day, they will exchange that bag for a beer. At wristband exchange on your arrival you’ll be given a bin bag for recycling and one for all other waste. More bags can be picked up from the Info Tent, zone managers’ caravans, Campsite CAT teams and campground litter exchange points.

If you collect your beer cups and bring them back you'll receive 10p. There will be two types of bins around the festival campsite – one for recycling and one for other rubbish. Beer cups, plastic bottles, aluminium and tin cans, paper and cardboard, plus plastic food containers can all go in the recycling bins.

Take your empty gas canisters or aerosols to the zone managers’ caravans, fill in a raffle ticket and go into the draw each day to win passes to Glastonbury Festival and Reading/Leeds festivals in 2008. Winners will be announced on the main stage each evening.

Give Me Shelter will be on site asking festival goers to donate tents and other camping gear if they have no further need for them. You can find out more information here.

To help minimize the environmental impact on the land at where the festival is held, Ecover Shower Gel (made from plant and mineral based ingredients, and biodegradable) is available for all festival goers to use in the onsite showers. There will also be Eco toilet paper available on site, which comes from recycled paper.

More information will be here when available.
