The second Playgroup Festival, runs from Friday 5th to Sunday 7th August at Eridge Park, Eridge Green, near Tunbridge Wells, in Kent. It's being organised by Playgroup, a small Brighton collective, who have been running events in the region for five years.

Line-up

The line-up involves over 350 musicians, walkabout performers, DJs, installation artists, cabaret performers and others. Quantic y sul Combo Barbaro, BOY COM, The Correspondents, Carnival Collective, Grass Cut, King Porter Stomp, Los Albertos, Malarki, Zen Death Squad, Zora & the Tatsmiths, AK/DK, Amity, Boss Kite, Bust the Box, Derriere, The Drop, Kalakuta Millionaires, The Grand Majestic, King Salami & the Cumberland 3, The Peppermint Beat Band, Mean Poppa Lean, New Groove Formation, Nordic Giants, Origami Dinosaurs, Phoria, Prjct Myhm, Rory Mulligan and the Imaginary Band, The Slytones, Size 9, Solskala, Trans Siberian March Band, Violet Jive, Wide Eyed Order, and several of the headliners from past Playgroup events are appearing in a clandestine fashion! Live music covers funk, gypsy swing, rock and roll, reggae, ska, dub, dubstep, drum and bass, skweee, jazz, jive, hip-hop, soul, disco, pop, beatboxing, scratching, video mixing, rockabilly, carnival bands, acoustic acts, electro swing, ambient, blues, country, folk and various mixtures.

Tickets

Tickets are priced at £77, including two nights of camping. A teen weekend ticket (aged 13–17 years)is priced at £66. Children aged under 12 can attend for free, as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

A ticket for the "magic bus rides" (including onboard entertainment) is priced at £9.50 return, which leave Brighton throughout the day on Friday. A car parking permit is priced at £20, and a campervan parking permit is priced at £35. To buy tickets, here.

There's a strong ecologically aware element to the festival, with the buses running on used cooking oil, solar powered generators along with a 24-hour cinema, and various extras.

With an expected attendance of only 2,000 guests, a handful of stages for live music, magical mystery tour buses, a cinema tent, installation art, fresh local produce, a family area, cabaret and walkabout performance, workshops and games, a healing area, 100% audience participation and a heavy dash of the absurd.

Charities

The Playgroup Festival is not-for-profit and is collaborating with local representatives from War on Want, Burlesque Against Breast Cancer and Climate Camp - to aid those charities.
