Oxjam, the biggest music festival in the UK, is a festival with a difference: thousands of events put on by music lovers – from large-scale festivals to local sponsored busks – throughout October. taking over stages, back rooms and street corners to make music and raise money for Oxfam with gigs, DJ sets, busks and much more.

Launched in 2006, the Oxjam festival has seen more than 40,000 musicians play to an audience of over 800,000 people at over 3,000 Oxjam events, raising in excess of £1.5 million to fight poverty around the world. That's enough to buy 13,000 emergency shelters; 60,000 goats or 900 classrooms.

Line-up

A London Oxfam shop will stage a series of exclusive, intimate performances, among the books and clothing on the shop floor itself to launch the charity's month-long Oxjam music festival with 1000 events and 33 city 'Takeovers', for which the festival has become known.

The Oxfam shop in London, whose location remains a secret until the week of the gigs, will become an Oxjam shop for the week, selling the best second-hand music in the city during the day. During the evening, it will be converted into a gig venue, playing host to these intimate performances in front of a just a handful of fans lucky enough to get their hands on a ticket.

Thursday 29 Sept: DRC Music album launch feat. Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Richard Russell (XL Records), Kwes (Warp Records) and more - SOLD OUT.
This is the launch event for the album Kinshasa One Two, out on Warp Records. DRC Music is a project brought together by Damon Albarn to raise money for Oxfam.

The charity shop gigs officially launch the Oxjam month of music, which runs through the whole of October. During October, more than 950 venues, 2,000 volunteers, 6,000 bands and musicians and 135,000 audience members will enable Oxjam to raise £500,000 to help Oxfam fight poverty. Events

Oxjam Camberwell Takeover: 22nd October 2011. A standard ticket is £10, and an early bird ticket is £7.50. A group ticket is priced at £45 and admits 5 people. Across six venues, the line-up will showcase, music, poetry, Burlesque, Opera Cabaret and a touch of comedy. Acts include Andy Onions, Fred Lessore, The Sonic Jewels, A Little Bird Told Me, Daisy Kelly-Granger, Mama Dakas, Mark J Stevens, Ian (Lowstar), Rokhsan, Eastroad, Speaker Sleeper, Erik Rutterford, Eloya, The Vibeadeliks, The Gits, Charmian Hughes, Stephen Frost, Glenda Read, Miss Dolly Blow-Up, Ford and Akram, Abigail Hardiman, Ozonna, Lucy Longlegs, Brown and Corley, Ruby and the Vines, The Rockets, Future Groove, Sebastian Blake, Tree Pit, Glyphs, Max Dickins, Ruby White, The Joe Inman Project, D-Kel, Tasha Pyne, The Hazeltones, Plantman, The Stow, Alaska Grow, Trim the Barber, 3G, Marie Naffah, HotBeds, The Mouth of Ghosts, Soneni & The Soul, The Fanclub, The White Russian, Baroness Tamara von Stein zu Leitershofen, Rachel Collins, After The Ice, Andy Gibbard, and Debra Jane Appelby. One wristband gives the opportunity to partake of all these performances with the added benefit of supporting Oxfam in its vital work.

Oxjam Cambridge Takeover: 22nd October 2011. This multi-venue all-dayer event is coming to Cambridge for the first time, an advance wristband is priced at £8 (or £10 on the day). Bijoumiyo, Keltrix, Sunday Driver, and The Best of Ezio's Songsmith Sessions, plus more acts still be announced for 6 well-established live music venues and 9 performance areas and a programme offering 40 hours of top entertainment with over 150 talented local artists peforming, all packed in a one-dayer to remember.

Oxjam Beeston (Nottingham) Takeover: 22nd October 2011 between 12pm – 11.30pm. A multi-venue one-wrist-band-gives-access-to-all-venues festival which will showcase local talent from across the arts world. Miss 600, Great British Weather, Tatebuds, Pesky Alligator, along with surprise acts still be announced and an eclectic mix of local acts. Plus Spoken Word Poetry courtesy of, DIY Poets, Left Lion and the Nottingham Writers Society in addition to comedy presented by Miss Imp and film screenings at Frenchy's Ice Cream Parlour. Adult Tickets are £5 for which includes entry to all wrist-band entry venues across the day. There will be an Under18 venue at Barton House details to be confirmed. All music is FREE between 12pm and 5.30pm. Wristband exchange will be located at Beeston Square – 10am until 5.00pm with a further collection point at Chilwell Highroad to be confirmed.

Oxjam Glasgow Takeover: 22nd October. Venues for this year's festival are G2, Bloc, Box, The Griffin, Buff Club & Sleazys and Flat 0/1. The current line up includes: Aerials Up, Baldego, Binary Zero, Caf Disco, Echofela, Fiction Faction, Gillian Christie, Hector Bizerk, How To Swim, I'm Sick, Kith & Kin, Laura Healy, Lizzie Nightingale, Miss Baudelaire, Rhiannon Garrity, Rose Parade, Shambles Miller, Skippy Dyes, Sonic Hearts Foundation, Stuntman Mike, Suspire, The Black Hand Gang, The Corleones, Tragic O'Hara, Two Rivers, Vigo Thieves, Voltergeist & Will Hanson.

Oxjam Brecon Takeover: Saturday October 15th from 2pm - Midnight - 50 bands and solo artists across 6 venues including : Under The Driftwood Tree, Kyshera, Rob Lear, Silures ++. Venues are Theatr Brycheiniog, The George Hotel, The Gremlin, The Markets Tavern, The Corries Club and Northcote Con Club. Tickets: £7 wristband entry.
