After more shenanigans attempting to get a photo pass, this time the special gantry was too small for all the photographers, we wandered into the arena for another sun scorching day of live music and real ale!

After being attacked by a short alien and held at gunpoint by Star Wars Stormtroopers I thought it best to hide out on a Harley Davidson – a limited edition fxdi35 anniversary Harley to be exact on of only 3,500 ever made! All the benefits of a new Harley on a classic old chassis design, with a… oh sorry this is about the festival not the bike. But they also had a concept Harley that looked rubbish.

Anyway after walking the sun bleached festival arena from one end to the other the brass band were playing ‘Darkside of the Moon’ again as we headed into the second stage tent for the first act of the day.

The atmosphere is more relaxed today, with no football to worry people and the age group younger on the whole drawn to Razorlight and The Zutons I guess. There’s a roaring trade on water, the hat stalls are packed and the queue for The Pimms bus is longer than those for the ATM machines.

The food smells, jugglers, poi dancers, acrobats, crazy costumes, and the obligatory Mad-Max bronze stilt walkers and inflatable arch are showing despite being newcomers Hard Rock know how to put on a festival.

The more relaxed feel/younger crowd influence is supported by the fact today the Woodforde’s Real Ale Bar has no barrier queuing system and that the green cups containing the Pear and Apple Cider are in every other person’s hands – cider is the new black.

Why can’t all festivals have quad sound set up? So we can hear the acts so well, it was clear on day two with the speakers already down that the sound would be much worse. And can festivals have hi quality screen backdrops too – Roger has pushed the envelope surely now the standard has been set for future festivals?
