Chiddingly Festival is now over 30 years old and happens from Thursday 24th September until 4th October 2009.

The music and dance programme includes Marcus Brigstocke, Darius Brubeck, Claire Martin, John Hegley & Otiz Canelloni, Maire Ni Chathasaigh & Chris Newman, and The Versuvio Wind Quintet.

Artists of national and international renown have come to this small village, performing in intimate surroundings which creates a unique experience for the audience. The festival has also given a platform for artists starting out on their careers.

Friday Sept 25th 7.30pm Chiddingly Village Hall
Diversions
An evening of entertainment in the French style starting with a mime dance devised to the music of Jacques Ibert. The second half will be a showing of the classic French film, Jour de Fete.

Jazz Event
Another brilliant evening of jazz at Chiddingly with Darius Brubeck and his Quartet. Tickets £15.

Sunday Sept 27th 11.00am-5.00pm Chiddingly Village Hall
Art and Craft Exhibition.
Artists and makers from all over Sussex. Children's workshops. Puppet show. Morris dancing, tribal belly dancing. Mummers. Food Fair and Beer tent Admission By donation

Sunday Sept 27th 1.45 to 4.45 Chiddingly Church
Jazz Singing Workshop with Claire Martin.
Following her sell out concert at Chiddingly last year, this British singer has come back to lead a vocal Jazz Workshop. Everyone welcome from beginners to advanced.

Storytelling.
'Stories to Live By' with June Peters
A performer in the ancient oral storytelling art.

Brilliant innovative harping from Maire Ni Chathasaigh (Irish Traditional Musician of The Year 2001)and the the astonishing virtuosity of English guitar wizard Chris Newman.

The festival programme includes events to suit all ages and tastes providing music, art, dance, culture and comedy. Events include live music, food fair, and an evening of comedy with Marcus Brigstocke.
