The Great Escape has today announced the highly anticipated return of The Road To The Great Escape, the live music showcase in Glasgow and Dublin in the days lead up to the new music festival and conference in Brighton.

 

Multiple venues will enjoy a huge range of live music in Glasgow on 6 May and then Dublin on 8-9 May. Breakthrough artists including VacationsSEBBer and Chalk are playing in both cities, with artists such as 49th & Main playing exclusively in Dublin and Nell Mescal in Glasgow.

 

The announcement also sees TGE announcing its keynote in-conversations from music industry experts .

London, Thursday 8 December 2022 - The Great Escape has today announced the highly anticipated return of The Road To The Great Escape, the live music showcase in Glasgow and Dublin in the days leading up to The Great Escape new music festival and conference in Brighton. 

 

Kicking off in Glasgow on 6 May, then travelling to Dublin on 8-9 May, The Road To The Great Escape will be bringing some of TGE 2023’s most exciting new talent to Scotland and Ireland, with artists appearing at both locations including woozy guitar pop from Australian band Vacations, indie-pop from rising, LA-based songwriter SEB, heart-melting Minnesota songwriter Ber, Edinburgh student and TikTok sensation Katie Gregson-Macleod, Irish singer Sorcha Richardson, Edinburgh singer-songwriter Calum Bowie and four-piece Belfast post-punk band Chalk.

 

Glasgow’s The Garage, King Tuts, G2, and The Garage’s Attic Bar will also exclusively welcome Irish indie-folk singer-songwriter Nell Mescal, Leeds-based post-punk band Cheap Teeth, New York fuzz-rockers Been Stellar, and upcoming artists including The Joy Hotel, Terra Kin, Cathy Jain and Girl And Girl to the line-up, whilst Dublin’s Whelan’s, Workman’s Club, Grand Social, and the Academy 2 will see Kilkenny’s breakthrough indie-pop duo 49th & Main and Dublin-based singer-songwriter Sammy Copley exclusively perform. The announcement comes fresh off the back of The Great Escape winning ‘Best Festival For Emerging Talent’ at The Festival Awards, reflecting its status as the festival for new music.

 

TGE CONFERENCE

 

The Great Escape has also announced four keynote in-conversations that will take place as part of its conference programme. 

 

Featuring leading executives, entrepreneurs, creators and innovators from across the music community, the keynotes include: musician, broadcaster, Chair of BPI and Chair of Youth Music YolanDa Brown, Ivor Novello award-winning songwriter, producer and President of the PRS Members’ Council Michelle Escoffery, Promoter and Afro Nation co-founder Smade and Ticketmaster's EVP of Global Music David Marcus.

 

In addition, the festival has announced that Carousel, the Brighton-based charity championing the rights of artists with learning disabilities, has come on board as 2023’s charity partner while leading music school BIMM returns as the education partner.
