Each day of Glastonbury Festival we'll be bringing you a daily dose of the Festival from right here on site.

Today's the first day of the Festival proper, this morning gates opened early for long queues and people have been slowly streaming onto the soggy site. Warnings have been issued for those not yet here to delay travelling until later today. Organisers are also recommending that those planning to come consider using public transport, the fact that stewards haven't been able to get here means numbers of those able to assist is limited.

The weather forecasts depend upon who you look at, but most predict clearer skies after a drizzly start this morning (some suggest thunder storms this week still). Today there's not much on, but many of the stalls are open, there's live music on some of the smaller stages, and today is the day to orientate yourself and test your footwear options. It's muddy in places and some areas are likely to get worse as footfall on them increases.

Yesterday's arrivals faced long queues into a mild night after the delyed entry to the campervan field led to a knock on effect of delays for those on the roads. Updates on the situation from Glastonbury Festival were sparse frustrating many. waiting for the gates to open. There's been rain over the already sodden campervan fields overnight, and it's a morning of fog, drizzle, and low cloud cover.

Earlier organisers urged that Festival goers not yet on site not to travel immmeaditely as the conditions are hampering access with roads clogged. The ground conditions are causing heavy congestion. Security checks are slowing those accessing the site. Those travelling are urged to delay their arrival, and campervans arriving from the north are being parked at Bath & West Showground.

This evening it's the eFestivals meet outside the Ridge & Furrow Cabaret Field bar, come along and say hi.
