Glastonbury Festival's license transfer went through a Scutiny Meeting at Mendip District Council last night which saw the transfer of the license from the old license holder, Melvin Benn, to a new in-house team named as Glastonbury Festival (2011) Ltd.

The licence transfer was put in two weeks ago with Avon and Somerset Police having just fourteen days to object, and no objection was received. Last night was a very positive public meeting to acknowledge the new management team and saw the transfer occur smoothly. Farmer and Festival boss Michael Eavis was not there but he was represented by three members of his management team.

There are other key members expected to join the team who will be instrumental in taking the festival forward. One of the recommendations that came out of the public meeting was that the Scrutiny Board would like to meet the Festival's new operational director when he gets into post. That operations director has been appointed, and will be announced by the Festival in the near future. The committee hope to hold a meeting with him to hear his plans for the Festival and what improvements he would like to make going forward.

FYI: Glastonbury Festival (2011) Ltd is the festivals operating company that holds the licence to operate the festival on behalf of Glastonbury Festivals Ltd; expect that company to be renamed to Glastonbury Festival (2013) Ltd sometime soon, as that's what they normally do.

This means that the Festival will not have to apply for a new licence with the current licence granted by the local council allowing them to run the event until at least 2016.

Glastonbury Festival took a year out this year, and will return next year from Wednesday 26th until Sunday 30th June 2013. Organiser Eavis has already said that next year will be the best one ever, saying "We've already got some acts confirmed, but I can't say who they are. There's not a shadow of a doubt – it will be the best festival we've ever done."

No acts are confirmed as yet for 2013. eFestivals will bring you the very latest rumours - keep your eyes on the Glastonbury 2013 rumours, updated as we receive information.
