eFestivals has been led to believe by a number of music/festival business sources that Truck festival which last took place over the weekend of Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th July at Hill Farm in Steventon has gone bust. We are attempting to get some sort of official confirmation; Truck has made no official statement yet.

Robin Bennett, founder of Truck, it's sister event Wood, as well as Truck America which started last year, first started the event back in 1998 and the has event grown and grown over the last decade. It's possible that Truck might be revived in the way that financially troubled businesses sometimes are, and festivals that have got into trouble financially are often revived under different ownership.

Our information is that it was touch and go whether this July's event would go ahead, but it did.

There have been numerous events on the festival calendar cancelled so far this year, and it looks as though the recession is biting into the festival scene.

There are still some events which continue to flourish and have had good attendances or sold out before the event, but rising costs, less money in festival goers pockets, and another summer dampened by showers is clearly having a negative effect on the festival market.
