The official Festival website, (here), states,
"1.15PM UPDATE:
Tickets for Glastonbury 2011 have now sold out, after just over 4 hours (which, we're pleased to say, is 8 hours quicker than last year). Thank you to everyone who has been online and on the phone since 9am.

We're very sorry to those of you who didn't get tickets, and acknowledge there were some issues with the website/phoneline due to the sheer volume of people trying to get through.

Thanks for all your continual support. We're looking forward to seeing those of you who got tickets next June.

Michael & Emily Eavis

The scramble for tickets for this year's festival started at 9am this morning, with the whole allocation of tickets selling in just over four hours, and with hundreds of thousands wanting tickets demand was high through out the selling period.

Due to the speed with which tickets were sold, some confirmation emails could take over 11 hours to be confirmed. For those who want to confirm they have purchased tickets, there is a ticket checking facility here.

Ticket sales were not quite as fast as the 105 minute sell out panic of tickets in 2007, or the two hour ticket sale of 2005, and faster than the 12 hour sell out of last year. There was no repeat of 2009 when tickets took several weeks to sell out, or 2008 where tickets were available right up until the festival.

A further release of a limited number of cancelled tickets is expected on sale in April or May 2011, for those who have registered beforehand so that they are eligible to buy a ticket.

Anyone aged 13 or over (when the Festival starts) who wished to buy a ticket must have been registered. Ticket registration closed at 9am Friday 1st October, exactly 48 hours before tickets went on sale. The registration site is due to re-open tomorrow morning (Monday 4th October).

There will then be no further UK payments taken until the booking site re-opens on Friday 1st April 1st 2011, when those who have successfully put down a deposit will have a week to pay their balance of £145 per ticket, and to book everything else they might need (tipis, campervan tickets, parking, insurance).

When available, in spring 2011, a car park ticket will be priced at £20 and a campervan ticket will be priced at £75. Details of tipis, combined coach and festival tickets along with other transport options will be announced in the New Year. Car Park or Campervan Tickets will not be able to be booked until the balance is paid for at least one of the tickets on a booking.

Anyone who decides not to pay their balance in 2011 will be refunded their deposit, minus a £10 administration fee. Those tickets will then be put forward to a re-sale, which is likely to be in April or May 2011. eFestivals will

The deadline for ticket refunds is Friday 6th May 2011.

Next year's Glastonbury Festival runs for five full days from Wednesday 22nd until Sunday 26th June 2011 across over a 1,000 acres of beautiful countryside at Worthy Farm, Somerset. Expect something like 2,000 performances at 50 or so venues including music, cabaret, theatre, circus, a fantastic Kidz area, poetry, green crafts and information and loads, loads more ... much more than just the music, so make sure you check it all out!

No acts are confirmed as yet, although U2 look likely, and organiser Michael Eavis confirmed to eFestivals that next year's Festival will be headlined by "The three biggest bands in the world. You won't believe who we've got." The names won't be announced until after all the tickets have been sold. As usual eFestivals will bring you the very best-sourced rumours, allowing festival-goers to see who is playing long before the bands are formally announced - keep your eyes on the Glastonbury 2011 rumours, updated as we receive information.
